Get The Look: Taylor Momsen

Everyone's favourite Gossip Girl has gone decidedly gothic with an edgy, tough, rock 'n' roll look, which is perfect for a night on the tiles.

Taylor's pale base complements her fair hair and glass skin, so begin with a tinted moisturiser which will even out skin tone. Despite the fact that this is a pale look, there are hints of colour here and there. Adding a few sweeps of MAC's Pressed Blot Powder will keep the shine at bay and once the matte has been pressed, cheeks can be given a touch of definition using a barely-there bronzer like Guerlain Terracotta Light Summer Bronzing Powder. Since Taylor's base is so pale there won't be too much room for error when adding colour so make sure to blend it well and avoid stark contrasts.

Taylor's trademark dark eyes are the centre point for this look. Prep lids from the lash line to the brow bone using an eyelid primer like Trish McEvoy's Eye Base Essentials before layering dark navy eyeshadow like MAC's Contrast from the lash line to just above the crease. Deep colour takes time to build but can be intensified by dipping brushes in water before you apply.

To finish, line lids above and below with a liquid liner like Make-up Store's Gel eyeliner in black, sweep a final layer of shadow just under the eye and apply a few coats of thickening mascara like Maybeline's The Falsies. Taylor tends to wear this look as a big statement but it needn't be too dark. Tone down the look with browns and taupes which will soften the look without taking anything away from the bold eye effect.

As Taylor's biggest gesture is reserved for the eyes, a pale lip gloss like Bourjois's Effect 3D Lip Gloss in Beige Elastic or a nude lipstick like Revlon's Nude Attitude Matte Lipstick should steal Taylor's look perfectly.
