Exclusive Interview with Seventeen!

Taylor Momsen isn't too worried about what's happening on the Upper East Side these days. She's too busy promoting her new album, "Light Me Up," with her band, The Pretty Reckless. Taylor dished to Seventeen about life on the road, her beauty tricks and secret hobby...

17: Do you have a favorite song on the album?
TM: I can’t pick one favorite. They are all my children. It’s like picking your favorite kid.

17: Tell us about the "Just Tonight" video — what was your inspiration?
TM: I didn’t want the video to define what the listener thought the song was about. I wanted people to be able to relate to it. We wanted it to be more imagery based, so we based it on all the different fairytales — Alice In Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel. Princess fairytales with a darker, gothic turn.

17: What's been the best part of your tour?
TM: We just finished our first U.S. headlining tour, which was awesome because it was the first one. L.A. was insane and New York was amazing. All the shows were a lot of fun and it’s a club tour so it’s a lot different then when we go oversees. When we go to the U.K. it’s 3,000 people screaming your words back at your and that’s the most amazing feeling on the entire planet. So that definitely takes the cake. We also were touring and went over to France. On the last day we got invited to a underground Guns ‘n’ Roses performance and we got to hang out with Axl Rose for a while. That was pretty cool.

17: Have you had any crazy fan experiences?
TM: In Paris, this one fan gave me a giant book she coordinated with other fans of the band and each person designed a page with a letter, picture, image, or drawing. We got not only one book but also two books filled with all this stuff of fan admiration and support.

17: Where do you keep all of this stuff?
TM: It stays on the bus until I get home and now it’s all in suitcases. I’m very unorganized.

17: Is there anyone that you’d love to collaborate with?
TM: I’d love to collaborate and write a song with Will Gallagher from Oasis. I think he’s a great songwriter. I’d love to tour with Alice in Chains, Aersosmith, ACDC, or Sound Garden. Foo fighters would be awesome too.

17: What's the best career advice you've ever gotten?
TM: I’m not really one for advice. Generally, I like making my own mistakes and learning from them because that’s what I think life is about. I like to figure it out on my own.

17: What about when you were the face of Material Girl? Did Madonna ever tell you anything you've taken to heart?
TM: No, it didn’t get that serious. It was a great fashion experience. Madonna took some of the pictures herself so that was really cool. It was such an honor to be chosen by her to be the first face of her line. I was really surprised. But she was very down-to-earth and very cool. She was very real and you never know what someone who is such an icon is going to be like.

17: Do you have any plans to do a fashion line?
TM: Yeah, eventually I’d love to have a clothing line. At the moment I’m not even thinking about it because if I did do one I’d want to have the time to commit to it fully and make it the best it can be. I wouldn’t just want to put my name on it and sign the project on to someone else. Maybe somewhere down the road.

17: What would this Taylor Momsen collection consist of?
TM: I personally like darker colors or muted colors— whites, blacks, grays or muted colors. There probably wouldn’t be a lot of bright colors. There would probably be a leather jacket. I’d definitely want to create some thigh-boots and shoes for the line. I love shoes.

17: How do you spend your free time?
TM: I don’t really have a lot of down time. The most down time I have is when I’m on the bus traveling to the next city. I liked to play guitar, watch Southpark DVDs, and sew rag dolls. I have a doll collection. I sew weird looking dolls as a hobby. I’m working one right now to give as a gift. They are like the “reckless dolls.”

17: You must have a really awesome eye makeup remover, what's your go-to product?
TM: I don’t use makeup remover, but I love Caudalie face wash. It takes off all my makeup and doesn’t burn my eyes.

17: Will Little J be returning to Gossip Girl anytime soon?
TM: Well, I’m still on the show, but they are being very supportive with letting me tour because you physically can’t do both at the same time. You won’t see me on the show for a while. I want to make records for the rest of my life and tour. Hopefully, I’ll be able to just do that but who knows what the future holds.

17: Are their plans to use your songs in upcoming episodes?
TM: They did play “Make Me Wanna Die,” on an episode, which was totally weird and surreal. It was one of the only episodes I’ve seen because I don’t like to watch anything I’m in. It was like my two worlds colliding, which was strange but cool.
